Talking Gorilla Theater

Now that a real, true internet connection affords me the opportunity to, shall we say, sample television shows I can't see without cable, I have watched a generous handful of Justice League Unlimited. This iteration of the show is something on an order of magnitude more entertaining than the few dull dull dulldulldull episodes of the series I saw when it was simply "Justice League." I particularly enjoyed the stretch starting with "Question Authority," probably the most entertained I've been by the Justice League since Grant Morrison split the scene.

Mostly, though I wanted to post to ask this: Why is it when I see an episode written by Gail Simone featuring Black Canary and Huntress I think "Oh, man, this is gonna be good!" But when I see an episode written by Geoff Johns featuring Hawkman I think "Christ, dude is fucking obsessed with Hawkman"?

Probably 'cause dude is fucking obsessed with Hawkman. Plus the episode wasn't all that great.

Tonight on PBS

(particularly for fans of The Cowboy Wally Show)

Shakespeare Behind Bars

A study of 20 male inmates who form the Shakespeare Behind Bars theatre troup, an acting company based in a [Louisville,] Kentucky prison, as they prepare their performance of Shakespeare's final play, "The Tempest".

This is a documentary and not the play itself. Here is a Quicktime trailer. (Crayon-and-paper costumes, sadly, are not on display.)
